"There was one Hutu who was accused of aiding Tutsi. He was an old man and he was killed while trying to escape. It was on Friday, at this very time. They killed him right in front of his children and daughters-in-law."
Pamphile Ndarugirire and Jean Marie Ndayishikaniye (Continued.)

There is one Hutu who saved me, but afterwards was accused of having killed Tutsi. When I heard about it, I came to testify that he was incapable of killing anyone. The proof was that he saved me despite the fact that we were from different ethnic groups. He was set free. Thus I was able to repay him for what he did for me.

Q: And you, did you lose any relatives or friends?
Pamphile: There are many. I remember a young boy called Gitebo, I suffered so much from his death. He was a good guy. There was another one from Ruburisoni family. There are many others. I can’t remember all of them. There was one Hutu who was accused of aiding Tutsi. He was an old man and he was killed while trying to escape. It was on Friday, at this very time. They killed him right in front of his children and daughters-in-law.

Q: Do you think the problem between Hutu and Tutsi have ended, or do you believe that the conflict continues?
Pamphile: No, it's over now. Hutu and Tutsi live peacefully. Even those Hutu who wanted to kill us for saving Tutsi have reconciled with us. Now everything is ok.
